Subaru Impreza: Rally Hero of the 90's

10 years ago, Subaru pulled out of the World Rally Championship for good after sliding down the performance table and succumbing to the ’08 economic meltdown. It was a sad end to what had been a great decade for the team and rally spectators. Colin McRae started his WRC career with Subaru, winning the WRC in 1995 and Petter Solberg joined in 2000 eventually winning the 2003 WRC – beating the legendary Sebastian Loeb.

The car at the heart of all of this was the Impreza, launched in 1993, that would quickly put Subaru on the map. The Impreza’s famous dark blue paint with lime yellow decals were instantly recognisable tearing through muddy rally stages and Subaru capitalised on this by launching a host of different  versions including the STi and Turbo models to capture the rally cars spirit. The Impreza and its rally wins alone helped boost sales for the manufacture, who up until the Impreza’s launch was only known in the farming community. The Impreza underwent a controversial refresh in 2000 which saw the introduction of the infamous ‘bug’ headlights; it polarized opinion so much that just 3 years later the Impreza was refreshed again, with toned down styling. By 2008 the Impreza range diversified, the classic saloon style was dropped and many were surprised that the Impreza became a conventional looking hatchback. These later models didn’t enjoy quite the same following as the earlier models and the Impreza name disappeared from the UK market in 2013 due to poor Sterling/Yen exchange rates. Earlier this year, the Impreza was bought back – along with its familiar saloon shape, although whether it captures the public’s imagination like the early models in what is now a very different market, remains to be seen.

While the glory days of the rally championships may be long gone for Subaru, those early cars still live on  and have become classics in their own right. With their ready ability to be modified (and a dedicated community to support it) the Impreza is a staple at car shows across the world and has a strong following which will live on for a long time.

Recently, a second generation Impreza (00 – 07) race car was bought to us to have fitted one of our 310mm chord high-downforce Carbon Fibre wings. The wing is designed using in-house CFD software to significantly increase down force at the rear, and, being autoclaved from Carbon Fibre with clever internal stringers, weighs next to nothing.  The wing sits atop CNC machined Alloy wing mounts, which are powder coated in satin black for a slick finish and also feature an array of mounting holes allowing you to finely adjust the wing’s angle of attack (AoA) to get a nice aero balance. The wing is completed by lightweight Carbon Fiber end plates.

It’s a perfect match for the Impreza and can be fitted with minimal modification to the boot lid. For Impreza owners who want to extract the most amount of performance from their cars, we now offer this package as a kit, available on our website.

Don Law Racing - Jaguar

 Don Law Racing - Jaguar

Reverie has recently worked with Don Law Racing to supply a dual element wing
to add to their Jaguar F-Type.

Here is a statement from David Foster Advanced Product Creation Leader
Special Vehicle Operations JAGUAR CARS LTD

"With the other competitors being in true race products, our advantage was with the product's

aerodynamics. Reverie were chosen due to the performance vs. drag characteristics the wing offers
when coupled with a Jaguar product. As the event start takes place at over 9000ft and finishing at
14000ft, the car cannot carry weight or drag penalties due to the reduction in engine power at those
altitudes so we've investigated every efficiency possible, with Reverie being able to offer the best
to enhance our competitive advantage."

Infiniti Vettle Fx Bumper / Diffuser repair
Reverie recently carried out a difficult cosmetic repair with no mould tools available to a rear bumper and diffuser from a limited edition Infiniti Vettle Fx.
The carbon fibre two piece lower diffuser and upper trim had to be de-bonded from the main abs painted bumper. Then the damaged areas were ground back and wet laminate repairs done on the inside before then having pre-preg carefully applied and aligned to the seen A-surface areas. The parts were then carefully autoclave cured at low temperature and pressure.
The parts were then sanded and matt lacquered to a very high standard before then Reverie skilled fitters carefully re bonding the carbon fibre parts back to the abs to re make the assembly without damaging the paint work.

Work Experience

Hello,my name is Harry Parker, and I am doing work experience at Reverie Limited for 1 week, and will take this time to tell you about what I, and the company have been up to in June and July 2014.

The main job that I have been doing, while at Reverie is helping out in stores, packing items up for shipment all across the world. Every item that comes out from us, it needs to be packed to a high standard, so that no damage occurs in shipping.

I have also been keeping stock up to date using an MRP System called 123 insight. this allows anyone in the building to see the amount of stock we have for a product, and its location, after you have searched for it, using the part number. This keeps our webshop showing the correct stock levels.

Finally I have also been using the computer to update Reverie Limited on social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter and Blogger. The link to the rest of Reverie's social media, are below.

Mitsubishi Evo Work

From 30th June 2014 until the 4th July here at Reverie we have been working on a Mitsubishi Evo, to be driven by Andy Demitriou, at Time Attack. The car is known as the Black Mamba due to its all Black styling. For the car, we have designed & produced all the aerodynamics . While all other work was done in Cyprus. Cougar Cyprus was the team that helped source all of the components, while Nastama Cyprus were held responsible for building the car and all the bodywork on the Evo.

The team plan to run the car for the rest of the season as it is, collect as much data as possible and get  the car in a wind tunnel at the end of the season.

Reverie supplied a dual element 300/120mm Rear wing, rear diffuser, flat floors made from carbon/alloy Honeycomb sheet. A front splitter was also added and front canards to the car, to make it stronger, lighter and faster. links to all these products can be found below

The driver of the Evo Andy, only made his debut for Time Attack at the round 2 stage, in another  car, a Porsche, and managed to pick up a trophy for his performance, at Knockhill, while we were busy working on his Evo, for the left over stages of the event.

We wish Andy luck, for the remaining rounds of this seasons Time Attack Championship, and are sure that he will do well in his new Mitsubishi Evo.
